Abstract:
The meteorological observatory Neumayer typically launches one radiosonde per day around 12UTC. At least weekly the sonde has an ozone sensor attached. Sondes are released from the roof of the station building. The measurement interval of the raw data is typically 1s. Data is quality controlled: Erroneous data is removed (technical issues). Partial pressure ozone is manually validated for plausibility. ** For all details see the full metadata description at "https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.924252"! ** Station altitude is 43 m, the launch site is located 25 m higher at 68 m above sea level. The first row of each sounding holds surface data for TTT, RH, ff and dd, which is not acquired by the radiosonde. The measuring height of TTT and RH is 2m, and 10m for dd and ff. Sounding was performed using a different method (Radiosonde, Vaisala, RS92-SGP) on 2019-02-04T00:00. The raw data of the sounding on 2019-02-13T12:00 lacks data in the table "SynchronisedSoundingData" for Altitude up to 3345m. This sounding was complemented with data from the data tables "RawPtu", "GpsResults", "WindResults" and "RawOzone". The TTT readings from "RawPtu" up to Altitude 3345m are suspected to be too warm by up to 0.16°C.

A Mobile - Automatic Weather Station (M-AWS) was designed to record a set of ground measurements, on board a zero-emissions polar vehicle. The M-AWS measured temperature and relative humidity in a transect of 2538 km from the plateau near the Novolazárevskaya station to the Dome Fuji (altitude 3810 m. asl) over the Eastern Antarctic plateau during the Year of Polar Prediction Southern Hemisphere Special Observing Period (YOPP-SH SOP). ** For all details see the full metadata description at "https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.906189"! ** Datalogger: Campbell CR1000

Abstract:
The meteorological observatory Polarstern continuously performs radiosoundings during times of ship operation. Typically, there is one launch to full altitude at 12 UTC every day. Additionally, there often is a launch with a smaller balloon for forecasting purposes (helicopter operations) around 6 UTC. All data published here is left "as recorded", no quality control was applied. ** For all details see the full metadata description at "https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.937319"! ** Data files were produced by a proprietary radiosounding system from Vaisala. The format is referred to as "mwx". Technically, the files are zip files comprising several xml-documents.

Abstract:
Italian Antarctic Meteo-Climatological Observatory at MZS, Victoria Land and at Concordia (IAMCO-YOPP)
Systematic surface meteorological observations and radio soundings are performed at Mario Zucchelli Station (MZS) and in the Victoria Land since 1987 and at Concordia Station (DC) since 2005. The project aims to collect data for extending time series, for meteo-climatological monitoring of the area, to provide data to the scientific community and for operational activities at the Base during the Italian Antarctic expeditions. At present, systematic meteorological observations are carried out by means of 16 automatic weather stations (AWS) running continuously throughout the year and two radiosonde systems (at MZS and DC).
A ceilometer for the measurement of cloud base, running only during summer season, integrate the Observatory instrumentations.
The Observatory will support YOPP activities, planning to double radiosoundings during IOP periods in the framework of SOP-SH at both stations: at MZS from twice to four times in a day (in cooperation with Korean Jang Bogo Station) and from once to twice a day at DC.
